Hawaii Time: Ukulele and Hula dance lessons

2nd and 3rd grade students (now combined with 4th - 6th grade group)

July 29, 2024 - August 2, 2024
Ukulele and Dance from 10:00 to 11:30
Cambria Center for the Arts - Room 12

Join us for an enchanting journey into the world of music with María Belén’s Ukulele Class! Maria will be assisted by Bonnie Mcelwain. Ukulele lessons will be followed by a hula dance class taught by Judy Friedman.

This  fun and interactive program introduces a brief history of the Ukelele, how to connect with music, tune your instrument, chord progression and song structure. Through engaging activities and games, children will develop fundamental musical skills, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love for music. No prior experience required – just bring your curiosity and will.

Ukuleles will be supplied during the workshop. Please let us know  if you have a left handed student who would like to learn on a left handed ukulele so we will order a left handed ukulele for your child.

If desired, there will be an option to purchase the ukulele at our cost at the end of the week.

After the Ukulele lessons, we will also provide a very fun hula instruction to continue the Hawaiian spirit. These lessons will include students from the 2nd and 3rd grade class, and the 4th through 6th grade class. Plan to stay for the music and dance parts of the class.

These Ukuleles are being donated to the organization through a special fund at CCA. The fund was created by students, in appreciation of the contribution that the late poet, Annie Harpel made through her poetry instruction here at the center. If you are moved to donate to this fund, we welcome you to go to the Donation area of our website or with signup.
