Gallery Volunteer opportunities

Become a Docent for the Gallery

Cambria Center for the Arts Gallery hosts some of the best art on the Central Coast. We would like to keep our doors open more often, but need volunteers to docent. The responsibilities include sales, helping visitors by answering questions about the art and artists, and generally keeping the Gallery looking sharp.

We’re looking for weekend Docents to work from 11am – 4pm (split into two shifts). New Docents will be provided with training and we encourage you to invite a partner to keep you company.

Volunteering has benefits at Cambria Center for the Arts. One of those benefits is a price reduction on your Take-In fees for non-juried art exhibits at the Gallery. Volunteer for one shift and take a $5 discount on the following months take-in fees.

The Gallery will be opening our doors on July 24th. We will only be open on the weekends to start out and safety protocol will be strictly enforced as dictated by the School Board, the CCA Board and the CDC. Training will be provided either as a refresher or for those of you who are just starting out as a docent.

Volunteer on One of the Gallery Committee

The Gallery is in need of volunteers on a regular basis. We have a Gallery Committee that meets once a month to discuss all areas of the operation, including upcoming and past events, Gallery upgrades and updates, collaborations with our other branches of the organization as well as outside organizations and much more. We’re a fun group of creative people and we have some great ideas for upcoming shows, improvements, marketing, fundraising, etc., but we need more people to make it spectacular.

It doesn't stop there. Gallery events require hospitality volunteers. Gallery exhibits need volunteers to help take-in and hang the art. We have a committee that determines the schedule for the next year. And all this activity requires getting the word out with marketing. There are so many areas where we can use some fresh ideas and can-do attitudes. It's always fun and you always meet interesting people.

If you have any interest please contact the Gallery Director at Come share your inspiration or get inspired yourself!
